Newsletter/Papers/Presentations

  • Newsletter.

Nancy  joined a newsletter co-op in 2010.  She submits an article for each issue dealing with the analysis side of technology.  She even tries to tie modern life to the analytical side of technology.  For example, one article discusses how football teams and application implementations are similar.

The number of authors depends on the month and what was submitted via the co-op.   The authors are from various parts of the country and the topics vary on technology detail.  Any business reader should find at least one interesting topic in this 4 page newsletter.

The newsletters are printed because Nancy believes this method gives the reader more options for reading and making notes. She also wants people to know that she cares enough to put it in an envelope, address it, put a stamp on it, and take it to the Post Office.   If you would like to find out more or be added to the mailing list, contact Nancy.

    Papers.

In Spring of 2010 Nancy wrote a 4 page paper titled “Color Usage with Computers”.  The paper gives an overview of the thoughts and feelings that the basic 7 different colors can evoke from viewers depending on their circumstances.  The August 2011 newsletter article followed this theme and was titled “Which RED Means Vacation?”.  If you would like a copy, please contact Nancy.  Again, this can also be mailed or a PDF can be sent via the Internet.

    Presentations.
Nancy loves sharing her knowledge with businesses to help them grow and protect their data.

“Are You and Your Technology Compatible?” is the title of a 30-minute presentation that Nancy did for the Lake Norman Chamber BusinessWorks group in May 2010.   It begins with looking at the business processes and people, discusses some aspects to keep in mind when selecting systems, and ends with a discussion on security issues and how they can impact even the one-person company.

“Is Your Technology Attracting Hackers?” is the title of the presentation that Nancy gave for a 30-minute workshop session during the Workshop Seminar in May 2011 of the Greater Charlotte Region Chapter of eWomenNetwork.  This presentation starts with what data you have, advances to why someone wants it, the ways they may obtain it, and finishes with some ways to protect yourself.

“What is Attracting the Hackers?” is a 15 minute presentation of the above one.  This was requested from an attendee of the above presentation.  It was given to the Ballantyne, Fort Mill and SouthPark chapters of the American Business Networks/Maxmimize Local Networking (ABN/MLN) in September 2011.
